FAQs
Where is Flooring Carousel located?
We are at 39 Union Avenue in Sudbury, and we have been at it here for more than 30 years. The showroom is open Monday through Friday from 9 to 5. Walk-ins are fine. If you want a designer free when you arrive, call ahead at +1 (978) 443-9552.
What kinds of flooring do you carry?
Carpet, area rugs, stair runners, hall runners, hardwood, engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl, cork, sports flooring, rubber, turf and more. We also keep a premade area rug and remnant room, and it is worth ten minutes of your visit even if you came in for something else. A remnant is often exactly the right answer for a bedroom, a landing, or a bound area rug, and it costs a good deal less than ordering a full roll.
Do you handle installation, or just sell the material?
We handle the flooring process from start to finish, working with the homeowner, builder or designer to choose the right flooring to choose the day of install. Our installers are the best in their craft, some of our installers have been installing flooring for over 20 years.
Can you help me pick something that works with the rest of my house?
That is most of what our designers do, and there is no charge for it. Bring photos of the room taken in daylight rather than under lamps, since artificial light shifts color more than people expect. Rough measurements help. So does anything you are trying to coordinate with, like a paint chip, a cabinet door sample, or a piece of upholstery fabric. We would rather you take samples home and live with them for a few days than decide under our showroom lights.
What should I be thinking about for a busy household?
Be honest with yourself about what actually happens in the room. Not what you hope will happen. A back hall off a gravel driveway takes a beating that a formal living room never will, and around here that hall is going to see sand, road salt, and wet boots from November through March. That room wants something hard and washable. A bedroom on the second floor can be soft and plush because almost nothing happens in it. The other question worth asking is whether you want the floor to hide dirt or show it. Mid-tone colors with some variation in them are far more forgiving than a flat dark plank, which shows every crumb and every paw print.
What actually drives the cost of a flooring project?
Material and square footage set the starting number. Prep is what moves it. A lot of the homes we work in around Sudbury, Wayland, and Concord were built well before anyone worried about a flat subfloor. Leveling, removing what is down now, hauling it away, stairs, transitions in doorways, and shoe molding all add up, and none of it shows up in a per-square-foot price you see advertised. Ask us for an itemized quote. If you are comparing us against someone else, compare the itemized versions, because that is the only way to tell whether the cheaper number simply left the prep out.
How do I get started?
Call us at +1 (978) 443-9552, or use the request a call back form on the site and we will reach out. Tell us the rooms, roughly what you have in mind, and when you would like it done. If you already have a budget in mind, let us know, we can work with any budget.
